For Mailbox installations, MAILBOX MUST BE METAL. Our adhesive does not work with polyethylene or polypropylene mailboxes. Contact us at info@askyourfirstresponder.com and we will provide an alternative solution for you.
The installation takes 3-4 minutes. The above video includes a curb and mailbox installation demonstration.
Make sure it will be dry for 24-48 hours before you install. Getting the adhesive wet before it fully cures can make it less effective.
Don't install if it is not between 40°F and 95°F. It takes 24-48 hours to fully cure at 78 degrees. If it is below 78 degrees, the cure process will take a bit longer. The colder it is, the longer it takes to cure.
Make sure the cement or mailbox is clean.
If installing on the porch step, make sure you measure so you know where to center it.
1 and 2 sign packages come with a 4 oz tube of adhesive with a twist off cap and support tape to brace the sign after installation.
Each sign will use 1.5 to 2.0 ounces of adhesive. (the tube holds 4 oz)
If installing on to a cement or wood surface, make sure the sign and cement / wood surface are clean and dry. The natural moisture from the cement or wood activate the curing process. There is no need to add water to the process.
If installing on to metal mailbox, spray a light mist of water or wipe a damp cloth across the back of the sign before applying the adhesive. Make sure it is just a light mist. Large amounts of water will lessen the effectiveness of the adhesive. The moisture helps activate the curing process since the nonporous surfaces don't have any moisture in them.
Twist off the cap of the adhesive and then puncture the top with a nail or screw driver.
Place a thin bead of adhesive ½ inch inside the outside edge and then a zig zag pattern in the middle. Each sign will use about half of the tube.
Evenly press the sign against the cement or mailbox to spread out the adhesive against the cement and sign. Press hard enough until the adhesive comes to the edge without going past the edge of the sign. It is critical that you press against the sign in the middle as well as the edges. If you just press the sides, the middle won't bond as well.
If adhesive goes past the edge, simply wipe it off with a paper towel or rag. You can also scrape off any excess after it is cured with an exacto knife.
Make sure the sign is level.
Place two strips of masking tape across the sign with about 6 inches overlap on the concrete or mailbox. This will support the sign until it is fully cured (usually in 24-48 hours)
